The Educator Advancement Council is pleased to announce the launch of the Racial Justice Institute.

Beginning in January 2022, the Institute will provide a series of virtual professional development sessions and an 18-month Fellowship for Pre-K to 12 educators. The Institute centers the experiences of racially, ethnically, and/or linguistically diverse educators towards helping the state create and provide culturally and racially affirming learning environments in order to address race-based isolation and fatigue and grow educators’ capacity to support, lift up, and collaboratively work with teachers, students, and families in their schools and communities.

Every two years, Oregon conducts a survey that provides an opportunity for teachers and administrators to share perceptions about teaching and learning conditions at Oregon’s public schools. The Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Survey examines perceptions in 8 categories linked to teacher retention and student achievement. A record number of educators – 19,556 – took the 2018 Oregon TELL Survey.

The New Teacher Center administered the survey in 2014, 2016, and 2018, but will no longer administer the survey in future years. We anticipate bringing on a new vendor and resuming the TELL under a new name in 2022. Sign up for updates here.

The former TeachInOregon website was developed in partnership between the state of Oregon and education organizations to help those aspiring to become an Oregon teacher more easily navigate the journey.
