Industrial water is treated effluent generated from industrial processes, manufacturing operations, or the extraction and development of natural resources. There are a wide variety of industries that reuse their process water for beneficial purposes here in Oregon, such as the food processing, wineries, and data centers.
These industrial processing effluents can contain nutrients, such as nitrogen, which can supplement or replace chemical fertilizer in agriculture. However, the physical, chemical, and microbiological characteristics of industrial wastewater can vary significantly depending on the type of industrial activity producing the water which may limit their reuse applications.
